HA NOI — The nation will publish remote sensing data in various media, including the internet, upon the approval of a draft regulation on remote sensing data management being reviewed by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai.
The data includes satellite photos, said Le Minh Son, deputy director of the Remote Sensing Centre under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. "From the photographs, we can create maps and diagrams which can be used in geological and mineral research," said Son. The data could also be used for development plans, research, national security and disaster relief plans, he said. |

Google Person Finder allows users to search for information about people by name or leave information about people in both English and Spanish. As of Sunday morning, the page said it contained 22,900 records. However, the page cautions users that all data input would be viewable and usable by all and that the company plays no role in verifying the information. |

"A good sketch is better than a long speech..." -- a quote often attributed to Napoleon Bonaparte
The ability to visualize the implications of data is as old as humanity itself. Yet due to the vast quantities, sources, and sinks of data being pumped around our global economy at an ever increasing rate, the need for superior visualization is great and growing. To give dimension to the size of the challenge, the EMC reports that the "digital universe" added 487 exabytes — or 487 billion gigabytes — in 2008. They project that in 2012, we will add five times as much digital information as we did last year.
